HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — While Kim Kardashian applauds Carrie Prejean for standing up for her beliefs, the reality TV star says the fallout from Miss California’s anti-gay marriage remarks at Sunday’s Miss USA pageant is warranted.
“That answer represented her and how she felt,” Kardashian tells People of Prejean’s response when pageant judge Perez Hilton quizzed her about making gay marriage legal. “Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. She stood up for what she believes in so she should be happy with that backlash.”
While she respects Prejean for standing up for her beliefs, the 28-year-old Kardashian says the pageant contestant could benefit from broadening her horizons.
“I don’t agree with her narrow mindedness and neither do a lot of people,” she tells the mag. “I’m not so narrow-minded so I definitely think a lot broader. Everyone has the right to be happy and be treated equally and I think not allowing gay marriage just kind of puts us back.”
“I believe you’re in love with who you’re in love with, and you should be able to marry them,” continued Kardashian. “No one should tell someone else how to think or how to feel.”
