HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — “Star Trek” hits the big screen this weekend, offering a fresh take on the franchise that first arrived in 1966.
“Lost” mastermind J.J. Abrams injects his imaginative mind into this new adventure, in what is the franchise’s 11th feature film. The story takes a step back to the troubled adolescences of James T. Kirk and Spock, whose future partnership serves as the heart of the story.
The film features a dynamic young cast, including Chris Pine in the role of Kirk and “Heroes” star Zachary Quinto as Spock.
Others in the cast include Winona Ryder, Ben Cross, Bruce Greenwood, Simon Pegg, Eric Bana, Clifton Collins Jr., John Cho, Anton Yelchin, Zoe Saldana, as well as the original iconic Spock in Leonard Nimoy.
