HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Ruben Studdard is about to belt out his biggest tune.
The “American Idol” favorite and his fiancé, Surata Zuri McCants, are planning a Southern wedding this weekend. The couple will tie the knot at Canterbury United Methodist Church in Birmingham, Ala., according to People magazine.
Studdard, 29, and McCants, 30, took out a marriage license on Monday, court records revealed.
The Birmingham native was nicknamed the “Velvet Teddy Bear” as he captured the season-two title on the hit Fox reality show.
Studdard has released three albums since winning the crown in 2003, including his chart-topping debut “Soulful.”
The Alabama A&M graduate is currently at work on his fourth album release.
