The dress in question is a strapless Nina Ricci gown designed by Olivier Theyskens. On the morning after the premiere, Parker learned that the dress was actually worn on May 5 by Lauren (Davis) Santo Domingo to the Met’s Costume Institute Gala. Santo Domingo was accompanied to the event by Theyskens.

Worse, the 43-year-old Parker also found out that Lindsay Lohan wore the gown as well in an advertising campaign for Disney.

The actress told the New York Times that she was disappointed because she had been assured that the dress had only been worn for magazine shoots.

“Look, my affection for the dress hasn’t changed,” she said, “but what they did was so short-sighted. It’s just unethical and disappointing that they would allow the dress to be worn again.”

While being fitted, Parker says she even made a comment to the designer expressing her surprise that the gown had never been worn before.

“He didn’t say, ‘Well, actually I just escorted Lauren down the red carpet at the Met.’ ” she told the Times, adding, “I just wish it had been handled differently and they had been straight about it.”

On the positive side, Parker’s dress controversy didn’t impact the weekend box office, where “Sex and the City” topped everyone with record-breaking ticket sales of $55.7 million — the most ever made by an R-rated comedy.
