HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — “American Idol” runner-up Katharine McPhee is now engaged to her actor-boyfriend Nick Cokas, according People magazine.
“Katharine is bubbling over with excitement for her upcoming wedding,” a source tells the mag. “She is all smiles when she talks about the planning. It sounds like everything is going very smoothly.”
McPhee, 23, has recently been seen sporting a ring that Cokas gave her. The couple met back in 2005 at the Los Angeles theater production of “The Ghost and Mrs. Muir.”
Their friendship became more serious when, “He took me up to my San Francisco (‘Idol’) audition,” McPhee told People. “We totally fell in love,” she added.
Cokas is 42-years-old, but the singer doesn’t think their age difference is an issue, saying it “was never really a concern. He just makes things really fun.”
McPhee and Cokas will be working together soon on an independent film called “The Last Caller,” in which McPhee stars and Cokas produces. Currently, McPhee is busy filming the Anna Faris comedy, “I Know What Boys Like.”
