HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Dawn Wells, who starred as Mary Ann on the TV series “Gilligan’s Island,” was allegedly caught with marijuana in her car, according to the Associated Press.
AP reports that the 69-year-old actress is currently serving six months of unsupervised probation, stemming from a traffic stop in Teton County, Idaho on October 18. Wells was initially pulled over for driving erratically when a sheriff’s deputy detected the smell of marijuana coming her vehicle. When asked about the scent, Wells said she had just dropped off three hitchhikers who had started smoking in her car.
Half-smoked joints and two cases used to store the drug were later discovered in the vehicle, according to AP.
On Feb. 29, Wells pleaded guilty to one count of reckless driving. She was sentenced to five days in jail and was fined $410.50. Under her plea deal, the actress had three misdemeanor counts dropped — driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.
Well was driving home from a surprise birthday party in her honor at the time of her traffic stop.
