“I wouldn’t recommend it — we have to be careful,” the 48-year-old actor revealed to Britain’s Radio Times magazine, “But then again … if you’re not in pain it gives a floaty, pleasurable feeling.”

Laurie also confessed that he still hasn’t moved his family from London to Los Angeles, where the series is filmed, for fear of ruining a good thing.

“I have this vague feeling that the moment I’m comfortable with my place in the world there’ll be retribution,” he said. “That’s one reason I didn’t want my family to live here. The moment we put down roots the whole thing will be called off.”

Laurie, who was won two Golden Globes for his portrayal of the cranky doc, says he can’t predict the future of the series, which introduced a number of new cast members this season.

“I’m hugely surprised ‘House’ survives,” he said. “The odds are against you in this competitive business; wolves snap at your heels.”

He then added, “It’s hard to say if I’m pleased with the show.”
