HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Lauren Conrad is setting the record straight following a recent tabloid interview.
The 22-year-old star reality TV star is responding to claims that she felt “betrayed” by her friends Audrina Patridge and Brody Jenner.
“At this point, I have to question every person that wants to have a relationship with me, whether it’s a friendship or a romantic relationship,” Conrad says in the latest issue of Us Weekly.
“I want to say I can always trust my good friends that I’ve had forever, but at the same time, some of my oldest friends have betrayed me,” the “Hills” star adds.
But in a post Thursday on her MySpace blog, Conrad attempted to clarify her comments:
“Hey! I just wanted to take a moment to clear something up,” she writes. “I recently did an interview to talk about the show coming back on and what everyone had to look forward to. Unfortunately it was turned into yet another ‘poor me’ story. The article itself is a nice one but it follows headlines that, in no way, represent my words or feelings. I do not feel betrayed by Audrina or Brody. I love them both and said nothing to contradict this. I understand that headlines sell magazines, but I value my friendships above magazine sales any day.
“On a more positive note, I got to see some of the first episode yesterday and it looks amazing. I’m sooooooo excited for everyone to see Paris. Best wishes and I hope everyone tunes in Monday.”
“The Hills” returns to the air Monday night on MTV.
