HOLLYWOOD, Calif. – “The Hills” star Lauren Conrad has denied reports that she was fired by Teen Vogue, where she worked as an intern.
Conrad, whose work at Teen Vogue was a featured part of MTV’s reality show, is moving on from the publication, as is her “Hills” BFF Whitney Port.
“No, no, it was a decision I made because I was kind of done,” Conrad tells People of the decision. “I’ve been doing it for about two years, so I’m kind of done.”
Insiders told The New York Post that the magazine’s partnership with “The Hills” had run its course — and that magazine officials weren’t thrilled with the show’s tabloid sensibilities.
“The average age of the magazine’s readership is 16 — do they really want to support the behavior depicted [in ‘The Hills]?,” said one source.
Conrad says she hasn’t found another part-time job yet, but she’s leaning towards something in the world of fashion.
“I’m looking,” the 21-year-old reality star said. “I really like working backstage at fashion shows, so I’m looking kind of in production.
“I love it. It’s like the most amazing high. It’s like the best feeling.”
The good new is, Conrad still has her day job to fall back on, as “The Hills” will be returning for another season.
Insiders say it’s likely both Conrad and Port will be featured in some sort of working capacity next season — but probably not at a magazine.
When asked if fans can expect to see her with a new guy on the hit MTV series next season, Conrad replied, “I hope so!”
