HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Michael Douglas, Amber Tamblyn and Jesse Metcalfe have signed on to star in the upcoming film “Beyond a Reasonable Doubt.”
The story follows a journalist (Metcalfe) who seeks to expose a corrupt district attorney (Douglas) by setting himself up as the suspect in a murder he didn’t commit. His plan backfires when the district attorney discovers the setup and gets rid of the evidence the journalist has amassed to prove his innocence.
“Doubt,” which is a remake of a Fritz Lang RKO film noir, will be directed by Peter Hyams, whose past credits include “End of Days” and “Timecop. He also directed the 1983 film “The Star Chamber,” in which Douglas starred alongside Hal Holbrook.
Douglas, who last appeared on screen in 2007’s “King of California,” will next appear in “Racing the Monsoon, a film in which he is also a producer.
“Joan of Arcadia” star Tamblyn, meanwhile, recently completed shooting “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2.” The cast features a number of young Hollywood stars, including Blake Lively, Alexis Bledel, America Ferrera and Lucy Hale.
Metcalfe, best known for his role on “Desperate Housewives,” is currently shooting the romance film “The Other End of the Line.”
