APIA, Samoa — A powerful earthquake struck the South Pacific between Samoa and American Samoa on Tuesday around dawn, sending large tsunami waves ashore and killing at least 99 people.
American Samoa tsunami videos have shown devastation throughout the region, with emergency crews searching for victims.
The 8.0 quake did not impact production on the CBS television series “Survivor,” a spokesperson for the network said.
The hit reality show, currently in its 19th season, was not filming at the time, the spokesperson said.
The current season of “Survivor: Samoa” debuted earlier this month.
