Johnny Damon Double Steal Video: Johnny Damon pulled off an amazing double steal in last night’s Yankees-Phillies World Series game.
With two out in the top of the ninth, Damon singled to left. With Mark Teixeira Phillies stepping to the place, the Phillipes put an infield shift on, moving shortstop Jimmy Rollins to the second-base side of the bag and shifting third baseman Pedro Feliz between third and short.
On the very first pitch, Damon stole second base, with Feliz grabbing the throw from home. Realizing that nobody was covering third, Damon popped back up and darted another 90 feet to third, giving him two steals on a single play.
“I’m just glad that when I started running, I still had some of my young legs behind me,” the 35-year-old Damon told ESPN after the game.
