Leon Washington Injury Video: Broken Leg Ends Jets Running Back’s Season

OAKLAND, Calif. — New York Jets running back Leon Washington broke his right leg Sunday — an injury that will keep him out for the remainder of the season.

A video replay shows a defender rolling up on Washington’s leg at the end of a 6-yard run against the Oakland Raiders. Several of his teammates said that the injury was so severe that the bone broke through the skin.

Washington underwent surgery after the game after being diagnosed with a broken right fibula.

The former Florida State star is New York’s second-leading rusher this season with 330 yards on 71 carries.

Washington made the Pro Bowl last season as a kick returner.

The Jets improved to 4-3 as they shut out the Raiders 38-0.
