LOS ANGELES – The owner of a jewelry store that accused Lindsay Lohan of stealing a $2,500 necklace says she waited a day before reporting it stolen because the actress told her she would return later.
Sofia Kaman testified at Lohan’s preliminary hearing Friday that it took 10 minutes before she realized Lohan left wearing the necklace. She said she waited to report the necklace missing because Lohan had told her she would return the next day to buy a ring.
Lohan is charged with felony grand theft for taking the necklace in January without permission.
Kaman and a salesperson testified that Lohan had come into the store at least three times and looked at several items, including earrings, rings and necklaces, but never bought anything.
Kaman says she did not have any agreement with Lohan allowing her to leave the store with the necklace.
