“Pants on the Ground” Original Video: While remixes have been popping up all over the Web, the “Pants on the Ground” original video by General Larry Platt remains the biggest hit.
The 63-year-old Platt captivated American Idol viewers Wednesday night with his performance of “Pants on the Ground,” a song about low-riding pants that immediately went viral.
“Pants on the ground, pants on the ground, lookin’ like a fool with your pants on the ground,” go Platt’s lyrics. “With the gold in your mouth, hat turned sideway, pants hit the ground / Call yourself a cool cat, looking like a fool, walkin’ downtown with your pants on the ground!”
“I have a horrible feeling that song could be a hit,” admitted Idol judge Simon Cowell.
Platt’s song may be the biggest hit of the season, but he missed the cut since he is well over the show’s 28-year age limit. Still, that hasn’t stopped his popularity or the countless remixes that have followed since his Idol appearance. Even late-night host Jimmy Fallon got into the action as he whipped out his Neil Young impersonation for his own “Pants on the Ground” rendition.
