Rampage Jackson vs Rashad Evans Video
LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Rashad Evans dominated the first two rounds and survived a third-round onslaught from Quinton Rampage Jackson to win their grudge match Saturday night at UFC 114.
It was all Evans at the beginning as he controlled the pace of the fight, but he was certainly holding on in the final stanza in claiming a 30-27, 29-28, 30-27 decision.
"The game plan was simple, it was to not get into areas that I’m not good at. At first he was sharp, but then he slowed up," Evans told reporters.
Evans now gets a crack at reigning champ Maurico Shogun Rua for the chance to become light-heavyweight king for a second time. Jackson, meanwhile, is already plotting another shot at Evans.
"Rashad is really tough, faster than anticipated," said Jackson. "I put everything on the line, I fought to 100 percent of my ability. I’m very surprised he recovered [from the hook], I put all my eggs in one basket.
"I gave it my best, and I want a rematch."
