HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Former NFL quarterback and ESPN analyst Sean Salisbury is front and center in the news again after engaging in a war of words with Deadspin via his cell phone.
The incident took place on Wednesday, with Salisbury firing off several blistering messages to Deadspin indicating he would be suing the site and others (including ESPN) for ruining his reputation.
“This is salisbury and I just want u to know ur guys lies and carelessness about CBS and espn stories has not only ruined my reputation but has cost me jobs so prepare urself for a lawsuit so big I will own deadspin,” he wrote in one rambling message.
Salisbury’s history with Deadspin dates back to a 2007 when the site followed up on a CBS Sportsline column by Mike Freeman, who provided the following “media entry” for his “all-selfish” team.
“The NFL analyst who shall not be named that took a picture of his penis with a cell phone camera and has shown it to numerous, uncomfortable women, then was suspended by his network for it. Absolute true story,” wrote Freeman. “Please make sure to clean off the mirror when you are done with it.”
Deadspin later followed up by publishing that The Big Lead had identified the NFL analyst in question as Salisbury.
“u guys have lied and backstabbed me for the last time I owe u no answer nor will I dignify the lies with any response,” wrote Salisbury in another steaming message from his iPhone. “For the record. U guys r being sued be a vicious attorney as is CBS and espn.”
