Urban Meyer 911 Call
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Police have released a 911 call placed from Urban Meyer’s home on Dec. 6 that contradicts the University of Florida’s previous statement about his medical emergency.
In the 911 call obtained by ESPN, Meyer’s wife, Shelley, says her husband fell to the floor after trying to get out of bed. She also discloses that he’s been taking the sleeping pill Ambien.
“My husband’s having chest pains,” she tells the dispatcher. “He’s having chest pains, he just woke up in the middle of the night and said he’s having chest pains.”
The medical emergency came hours after Florida lost to Alabama in the SEC Championship game. The university first said that its coach had been admitted to a hospital for dehydration, only to later reveal that he was also suffering from chest pains.
Last Sunday, Meyer announced that he was taking an indefinite leave of absence, one day after he first revealed plans to resign.
