Alexa Chung’s AG Denim Collection: ‘It’s the Missing Pieces of My Dream Denim Wardrobe’

Alexa Chung wants you in her jeans. Her new jeans for AG Adriano Goldschmied, that is. The style-setter just announced her collaboration with the denim brand, but you’ll have to wait till January 2015 to get your hands on a pair. To get you excited, Chung released a sneak peek at the upcoming line on Instagram: a single button embossed with her branding.

“The collection is inherently the missing pieces of my dream denim wardrobe, which, as ever, is predominantly inspired by a late ’60s, early ’70s aesthetic,” she told WWD of the inspiration behind Alexa Chung for AG. And no ’70s-inspired denim collection would be complete without the perfect pair of high-waisted bottoms, or, as Chung calls them, “perfect perfect hot pants,” which according to the star are “higher-waisted than your classic and made to not show any bum.” (We’re definitely curious!)

Chung worked closely with AG’s creative director, Sam Ku, and the pair spent time searching vintage stores in Southern California to fully bring the star’s vision to life. “A lot of the ideas in the collection are items that she wants or her friends want, but they can’t buy right now,” Ku told WWD. “For someone who has never really worked in fashion, she has a keen sense of how to put a collection together and which pieces go together. She has an innate sense of style that allows her to put together ideas and pieces that work together.”

This isn’t Chung’s first collaboration with a major brand. She also curated a collection for Madewell and is the face of Longchamp. Plus, she already has a book under her belt, It, which is a compilation of her personal writings, drawings and photos. What do you think of the star’s latest endeavor?
