After she spent the day in the PEOPLE offices, we kinda felt like we knew Audrina Patridge pretty well. Which is why we’re taking it personally that she didn’t call us up first for a hair consult before debuting this major new change: lavender locks!

After posting the sassy mohawked moment in foils below on her Instagram, the 1st Look host and former Hills star took to her blog to document her mane makeover, which saw her going from from a honey-streaked brunette to a whole head of soft purple headlights.
“I have been wanting to do something fun and different with my hair, i decided to go all out!:) I love the new 2015 silver/ pastel color trend… so we went for it!” she wrote on the blog, before turning the text over to stylist Briana Cisneros.

After lightening up Patridge’s hair several shades, Cisneros “melted together smokey pastel silver, with a champagne blonde and light powdery lilac,” and “used cooler tones to complement Audrina’s olive base skin tone.”
Thinking about joining Patridge (and stars from Katy Perry to Kelly Osbourne) in the purple hair club? Cisneros says to proceed with caution: “This color is for the dedicated and not for the faint of heart,” she writes. “It takes 8 hours in the salon, along with home care and revisiting the salon for upkeep.”
