Bright Citrus Orange is Having a Moment (See Celebs In the Shade)

Move over, Marsala. There’s another hue that’s currently taking over the world, and it’s totally different than that muted, rich shade. We’re calling it “Creamsicle.” See the celebs — Malin Akerman, Lily Collins and Olivia Palermo — who have been seen wearing the ultra-bright hue on the red carpet lately and leaving us wondering if we could pull it off, too.

Akerman, who’s no stranger to taking risks on the red carpet, wore a creamy orange cut-out Bec & Bridge midi dress, which she accessorized with a pair of nude Bionda Castana pumps and a gold Kate Spade New York clutch for the GQ Men of the Year Party in Hollywood. We love the actress’s sexy skin-baring look because it’s not that so-in-your-face traffic-cone-orange, but more of a much tamer peaches-and-cream color that we could easily pull off at home (at a much warmer time of the year, of course).

Collins’s take on the bold hue is a contemporary take on the strapless gown, from Maticevski’s 2015 Resort collection, which she wore to the Love, Rosie premiere in Tokyo, Japan. Aside from her sheer black pumps, the actress opted for minimal accessories and let the dress steal the show. Our favorite aspect of the dress? The exposed zipper on the back of the dress.

Palermo, who isn’t a star we typically see in much color, shocked us all in her latest ensemble featuring a bright orange midi skirt, which she teamed with a white blouse, knee-high leather boots and a colorful clutch at the Monica Vinader flagship store opening in London. Although we’re almost positive we wouldn’t look as chic as the star if we attempted the look ourselves, we think her accessories (like her black-and-silver belt) definitely help tame the bold skirt, making it a little more wearable.
