Emmys 2014: All the Scoop on Christina Hendricks and Melissa McCarthy’s Marchesa Looks

If you’re a pro award show watcher, you probably noticed that red is a big trend at the Emmys. And Christina Hendricks is leading the pack. The Mad Men star selected a crimson satin one-shoulder gown with crystal embroidery, and of course it put her famous curves (yes, that cleavage) on display.

“It had an Indian inspired Sari feel to it, so we paired with similar jewelry,” Hendricks said on the red carpet of her gold Neil Lane jewels. She finished the look with a metallic clutch and centered parted waves.

And the dress was love at first sight for the actress.

“Christina and I had just returned from a trip to London before her first fitting at Marchesa,” her stylist Lawren Sample tells PEOPLE. “We were so inspired by the city’s traditions and elegance and we wanted to choose a dress that encapsulated that feeling of richness and glamour. This Marchesa dress complements Christina’s beauty and poise perfectly.”

Another fun fact: Hendricks first fell in love with the dress earlier this year, and she almost wore it to Cannes, but decided to hold out for the Emmys.

Also in Marchesa, Melissa McCarthy selected a custom black ball-gown skirt, which she paired with a simple tee.

“Pairing Melissa’s custom Marchesa ball skirt with a simple black tee is glamorous, modern and fun with a hint of rock ‘n roll…..just like Melissa,” her stylist George Kotsiopolous tells PEOPLE.
