With the seasons in flux and our wardrobes in a state of hot and cold uncertainty, it’s time to mix our lighter fare with darker accents. Let’s start at the top (literally), shall we? Sure, the beanie provides a quick bad-hair-day fix and the cloche hat makes us feel (and look) ladylike and sophisticated, but it’s the wider-than-wide-brimmed fedora that gets the highest marks for Fall. Not only was it a staple on the Fall 2014 runways – think Creatures of Comfort, Tibi, Charlotte Ronson, and Kenneth Cole – but it’s also one hat silhouette that never gets old.
Steer clear of woven and straw options, which feel a little too summery now. Instead, opt for rich hues and richer fabrics. Let’s put it this way: the more dramatic the brim, the better. This lineup is runway-inspired, seasonally appropriate, and sure to crop up on many a street style darling.
