George Clooney and his new wife Amal Alamuddin are in the midst of a rigorous renovation project for their English countryside mansion, Us Weekly has learned.

The couple’s 9,000 square-foot 17th-century Georgian home boasts nine bedrooms and eight bathrooms and is valued at nearly $15 million. Along with elaborate features including a library, gym, spa, steam room, and wine cellar, the couple plan to install a strong room, better known as a panic room, Us first reported back in February.

“The need is because Amal has a high-profile client base involved in extremely controversial cases, so living in that house, which is quite exposed on the island, you would need to be careful,” a source revealed.

New plans recently submitted to and made available by South Oxfordshire District Council indicate that the couple plan to add a swimming pool and pool house, a grand terrace, and a private cinema.

“They’ve moved out while it is being renovated,” a source tells Us of the Berkshire mansion. “They want to restore it to its former glory.” Clooney, 53, and Alamuddin, 37, snatched up the property right after their four-day nuptials, held at the Aman Canal Grande in Venice, Italy in September 2014.
