Is Kanye West Venturing Into the Fashion Industry? Well, Duh, Just Ask Him

He’s collaborated with French fashion label A.P.C. He designs shoes for Adidas. He serves as wife Kim Kardashian’s full-time, personal stylist (that Grammys dress!). So yes, Kanye West is a fashion person. And you shouldn’t question it — because Kanye’s feeling extra Kanye-y lately.

The rapper was swarmed by paparazzi while traveling through an airport Monday, and one photographer made the mistake of asking him (on camera), “Are you venturing into the fashion industry and is Kim going to be your muse?” Maybe the pap just wanted to address rumors that the West will launch his own fashion label, or maybe he was totally unaware of the his style résumé, but he did elicit an agitated response from the star. Watch the priceless reaction below.

We have to admit we’re fans of the musician’s fur collection, and that coat is perfect for freezing N.Y.C. But something is definitely in the air, because West has been returning to his more-combative ways. He almost interrupted Beck’s Grammys acceptance speech for album of the year, and later said that he truly believed Beyoncé deserved the award.

As for his role in the fashion world, he’s said in the past that he wanted to actually study design.

“I wanted to go to Central Saint Martins, but Louise Goldin said that I was too famous,” he told GQ. “So I basically had to learn my clothes through Style.com, through like Scott [Schuman] The Sartorialist, Tommy Ton, and dudes shopping. And luckily, I was rich enough to make mistakes and learn by like just being a fashion victim—which I definitely have been a fashion victim—and to flip it from fashion victim to maybe a fashion icon, to actually a person who can give an opinion, and that’s what I’m in the process of doing. So I just want everyone to be patient with me as we go on this journey.”

What do you think of West’s latest tirade? Do yo love his fur coat? Do you want him to start his own fashion label? Sound off below.
