Keke Palmer has always followed her gut instead of the pack when it comes to fashion, and it looks like she’s doing the same with her hair as well. At a time when stars are letting their spring pixie cuts grow out (see: Julianne Hough, Kristin Chenoweth, Jennifer Lawrence), she’s gone ahead and chopped a short, spiky do just in time for fall.

Fresh off rocking a super-long, intricate pony at the Emmys (see behind-the-scenes prep photos here!) and a few days before taking the stage on Broadway as Cinderella, Palmer, 20, debuted her brand-new do at an event for her upcoming show. Wearing a lace crop top and distressed jeans and showing off Stuart Weitzman’s Cinderella slippers, the star beamed underneath her just-cropped cut.
