Kendall Jenner Lands Two Teen Vogue Covers, Addresses that Whole ‘Bleached Eyebrows’ Thing

Add “major magazine cover” to Kendall Jenner’s growing list of modeling accomplishments. The 18-year-old reality star-turned-high fashion model landed the September issue of Teen Vogue, posing for not one but two covers (and a full spread inside). And she addresses one of our most pressing questions about her career, which is: Why do stylists keep bleaching her eyebrows?

As it turns out, Jenner’s been wondering the same thing. “I actually had them bleached today,” she says during her interview (we’re guessing you can see the results above). “This is the sixth time since February! I might have to start saying no at some point, because I’m getting worried they’re going to fall out!”

Potential eyebrow loss aside, Jenner is happy to ride the wave of her modeling success — as she has mentioned before, she got a slow start when designers weren’t willing to consider a reality star. “People didn’t want to take a chance on me, I think because I was sort of known,” she says. “They were a little bit on the fence about it. Some people might think that what I’ve done before made it easier for me to get jobs, but it was actually a disadvantage. I had to work even harder.”

But in spite of her drive to make it as a model, Jenner says, she was committed to being a kid before becoming career-focused at 17. “I wanted to get started, but I was young, and I wanted to do young things,” she says, adding that she rode horses and did cheerleading until she was ready to hit the runway. “I had to grow into myself. I couldn’t really go out there as a 15-year-old. I mean, I know that some girls do, but I couldn’t. I’d grown up in the spotlight, and I needed to be a kid for a minute.”

Now she’s walking for Chanel, posing for Givenchy and, she says, taking her nascent career very seriously. “I felt like I should pick specific designers that I wanted to go for so I could make a good first impression — or more like a fifth impression,” she says. “But it’s my first impression on this world.”
