Kim Kardashian West told PEOPLE her platinum hair wouldn’t last long, and she wasn’t lying. After less than a month as a bleach blonde, the 34-year-old star has already returned to her signature brunette shade.

Kim was photographed taking daughter North to dance class Thursday in L.A., sporting dark brown hair pulled back in a tight bun, so we’re pretty sure she’s not pulling a wig prank. She wore a black crop top, high-waisted leggings and her Yeezy Boosts — what we imagine to be the Kardashian version of athleisure — for her hair reveal moment.
When she went blonde for Paris Fashion week, the star told PEOPLE, “It was a really last minute decision, and I loved taking this risk. It’s a fun look, but I’m not sure how long it’ll last — but a fun break for now.”
As for the inspiration behind her super-light dye job? The original Queen of Pop.
“I’ve always had this image of Madonna with platinum hair in my references folder on my computer and I’ve been waiting a long time to try the look,” she said. “I thought, what better time than right now for Paris Fashion Week?”

Celebrity colorist Lorri Goddard was the mane master behind Kim’s initial platinum transformation. And the white-blond color was definitely high-maintenance (even for a star who travels with a glam squad). Kim posted a number of salon selfies during her stint as a blonde.
