Lady Gaga, Gwyneth Paltrow, Felicity Jones, Nicole Kidman: Who Had the Riskiest Oscars Red Carpet Dress?

Stop-and-stare ensembles!

Simple gowns are nice, but they don’t pack the punch that is necessary to go down in history. Red carpet mainstays like Lady Gaga and Gwyneth Paltrow know this, so they wisely chose the statement-makers that we’ll surely be discussing for years to come. From Paltrow’s garden-approved dress to Gaga’s scrubbing gloves, have a look at the riskiest looks of the Oscars 2015.

Nicole Kidman — and her shoulder-length bob — hit the red carpet in a head- turning look. The Queen of the Desert actress, 47, joined by husband Keith Urban, made a grand entrance in a strapless yellow sequin Louis Vuitton gown. There were so many questionable points to this look — like a clashing red belt, the gown’s disco ball-esque hue, and a seeming gnawed off hemline. Kidman accessorized with a Louis Vuitton clutch that looked like a miniature storage trunk and Harry Winston jewels.

Paltrow brought on the Pretty in Pink vibes with a lean Ralph & Russo column gown that featured a gigantic rose on the shoulder. The gown was perfect for a bridal party, and an unexpected choice for the Oscars.

Queen for the day? Felicity Jones sported a whole lot of dress via a soft gray Alexander McQueen gown with a bodice made of pearls and floral appliqués and a massive full-skirt. The huge bustle and high collar seemed to swallow The Theory of Everything actress, 31, up whole.

Newly engaged Gaga channeled a porcelain doll in her custom white Alaia gown with Lorraine Schwartz jewels. The “Cheek to Cheek” singer, 28, pulled an Amal Alamuddin and accessorized with gloves — which incited dozens of memes on the Internet.
