After practically breaking the Internet with her short new ‘do last year, Lauren Conrad has continued to chop her hair into its current state: a textured bob. And with her new length comes new ways of styling, which, for us, means lots of fun hair tutorials from the DIY queen. In her latest video (below), the star shares how to get one of her signature looks at home: the side crown plait.

Last month, the designer-slash-lifestyle-blogger gave fans insight on how to achieve her beachy waves with help from a curling iron and a few spritzes of John Frieda’s Beach Blonde Sea Waves Sea Salt Spray (she’s the newest Beach Blonde brand ambassador!), and this month, she’s taking the look a step further, and is incorporating a fun French braid into the style.
“It’s great when you’re trying to grow out bangs, which I’ve done a few times,” Conrad shares of the style on her blog. “You can get this look no matter what length, color or texture your hair is. It’s one of the most versatile styles around, and also one of the easiest to do.”
What you’ll need:
–A 1 3/4-inch curling iron
—John Frieda’s Beach Blonde Sea Waves Sea Salt Spray
–A few bobby pins to secure the braid
Once you add texture to your style with Conrad’s beachy waves tutorial, it’s time to braid. Watch her technique in the video (we’re taking notes!) and test out the look for an upcoming party. Or if you happen to be going to Coachella this weekend, it’s the perfect festival look.
