The moment Michelle Obama enters a room, whether or not she’s got Barack by her side, there’s only one thing we care about – what she’s wearing. OK, we also care about listening to her inspiring words of wisdom. But it’s pretty clear that the FLOTUS isn’t only charming us by way of her huge smile and optimistic voice. She’s also got a killer wardrobe chock-full of our favorite designers and a style sensibility that everyone admires. Not only are her looks perfectly catered to the events she attends or hosts, but they also scream personality.
That’s why we were thrilled to see Michelle sport a stunning Monique Lhuillier number to the 37th annual Kennedy Center Honors. The blush-colored gown, which featured a sheer neckline, a tulle overlay skirt, and tons of sparkle, was equally as elegant as it was fun, perfectly summing up the first lady’s signature style. Yep, there’s no denying this woman’s style choices could teach us a thing or two about power dressing – and rocking a bold design with killer confidence. So, Michelle, here’s to Monique Lhuillier, Mary Katrantzou, Jason Wu, Tanya Taylor, and many, many more of the designers who lend you the sartorial kick we love so much.
