Rebel Wilson may have worn a cape on the MTV Movie Awards red carpet, but she managed to trump that look with her onstage outfit. And the 29-year-old star explained that her sexy wardrobe change was all about sending a very important message to fans.

Wilson hit the stage in a bedazzled bustier bra top, leather leggings (featuring the word “Think” across the butt) and big white angel wings (a riff on the Victoria’s Secret angels) to talk about her NSFW moment in Pitch Perfect 2. She later explained that the look was about embracing your shape.
“The ‘Bella’ girls are all different shape and sizes and nationalities,” Wilson said in the press room. “I think one of the good messages in the movie is that you’re all beautiful. I think sometimes girls look at Victoria’s Secret models and think that they have to model themselves after that, but I really don’t think that’s the best, even though they are called ‘models,’ they’re not the best people to model yourself after. I like to encourage girls to think, which is why I put that on my butt. It’s really about what’s up here [points to head], and not whats here [points to backside].”
As for the mastermind behind her bold ensemble, Wilson quipped that it was a labor of love.
“This [bedazzled bra] was actually hand made by Spanky in Dubai who did Madonna’s corset and a lot of Lady Gaga’s outfits,” she joked, adding, “So it’s hand made in Dubai, and I appreciate them for putting a lot of work and effort into this last minute. And these [pants] are jet generic leather pants — $49.95.”
And while she loved the entire outfit, Wilson revealed it definitely wasn’t the easiest thing to wear.
“The wings are slightly uncomfortable, especially when people knock into you,” she shared. “But it’s good — this will be my cardio for the day. I had to walk up three flights of stairs while wearing these, and these are about twenty pounds.”
