We’ve had style experts weigh in on what Princess Kate will pack for her upcoming three-day trip to New York City. And now we’re sharing our picks for what we’d love to see the stylish royal wear stateside. (Warning: Some of the things are a bit out of the Princess’s wheelhouse, but you never know.)

Sarah Kinonen, Editorial Assistant: For her trip to the Big Apple, Princess Kate is packing a coat (duh, it’s cold), but not just any coat. I hope the fashion-forward mom-to-be is bringing this black quilted “Merida” coat from Temperley London’s Fall 2014 collection. The Princess, who is a known fan of the brand, will need a thick (yet roomy) coverup during her time in N.Y.C., which will most likely be met with rain. And because she’s visiting the city that doesn’t do colorful wardrobes, her coat must be black.

Catherine Kast, Style Writer: It would be brilliant if Kate would wear an American designer for her trip to the states, and who better to represent a princess than Michael Kors. This dress from his Fall 2014 line comes in an N.Y.C. winter-ready black and gray, but with its tiny floral appliqués, it doesn’t feel somber! Kate can consider belting over her bump, and it’s a royal-appropriate midi length. It will look undoubtedly good with her tights and black L.K. Bennett pumps, but I’m hoping she’ll borrow sister Pippa’s black suede booties to wear with this dress!

Loni Venti, Style and Beauty Editor: Since the royal duo are heading to my hood to catch a Nets game during their trip, I’m just going to throw it out there and say that I want to see the duchess in a Brooklyn tee, like this Sportique design. What? If Queen Bey can wear one, why can’t Princess Kate?

Jackie Fields, Beauty Writer: Do you know what the forecast is for Kate’s December 7-9 visit to N.Y.C? Royal — with a chance of rain. No, really, it looks like it’s going to to be a wet week, and this Princess has to be prepared for anything. Since I think a riding boot style always suits her well, this rubber rain boot version will be both proper and practical as she hits the pavement. Plus, I’m holding out hope that the royal will don some American designers while in town, and who better to be on that elite list than Michael Kors?

Brittany Talarico, Style News Editor: I know Sarah wants Kate to go the safe route and sport a demure black coat, but in my fantasy Kate steps out in something crazy-glam (and warm!) like this blue feather statement coat from Jenny Packham’s Fall 2014 design. Can you imagine the expression on Queen Elizabeth’s face when she sees the photo of Kate in something like this? Priceless.
