Every bride who has ever told a bridesmaid, “Oh, you can just shorten it and wear it again!” now has a famous face to back her up. (Sorry, bridesmaids of the world.) Lupita Nyong’o attended a SAG Awards afterparty wearing a version of her dramatic, statement-making Elie Saab red carpet gown — just its shorter, more manageable cousin.

The night’s presenter had big plans to get down on the dance floor with Jared Leto at the Netflix/Weinstein company afterparty, and for that, she needed a dress with just slightly less skirt than the one she wore onstage. So she changed into a mini from the same Elie Saab pre-fall collection, which featured the same print and neon-trimmed waistband, but a higher neckline and no sleeves.

The other advantage (besides danceability) to changing into the short version of your original gown? Your accessories can all stay the same! She got to show off her satin Judith Leiber clutch and deep red Sophia Webster heels (initially hidden during her red carpet walk), plus her gorgeous Fred Leighton jewels got another walk.
