The Met Gala has come and gone, but one question has remained unanswered: What did Vogue editor Anna Wintour really think of all those men flouting her “White Tie and Decorations” dress code and coming in (gasp!) black tie instead? She and Met Gala co-chair Sarah Jessica Parker (that’s them above, with fellow co-hosts Aerin Lauder, Bradley Cooper and Jonathan and Lizzie Tisch) joined Seth Meyers on his show to discuss just how that very haute receiving line feels — and their reaction to some of the male attendees who didn’t quite get the dress code right.
“I had no idea how much panic this would cause men, but the best email was from Tom Ford, who dressed many of the handsome men there Monday night,” Wintour said. “Not only did hundreds of men ask him what white tie meant, they were confused by decorations. There were a couple of people who asked if they were Christmas Tree decorations.” Meyers wanted to know just how off-base stars including Tom Brady, Kanye West and co-host Cooper were — so he pulled up their images on-screen for fashionistas Wintour and Parker to critique.
