Say Goodbye to Mad Men With This Limited-Edition Beauty Box From Birchbox (Plus, Get Beauty Tips From the Show’s Makeup Artist!)

After seven seasons, the Mad Men era is officially coming to an end, which means we’ll no longer have the opportunity to take extensive notes on the show’s leading ladies’ fabulous hair and makeup moments. But now, thanks to Birchbox (everyone’s favorite subscription service), you’ll be able to channel your inner Betty, Joan or Peggy in the form of limited-edition subscription boxes with hair and makeup products inspired by the show, and as an added bonus, we’re sharing exclusive beauty tips straight from on-set makeup artist Lana Horochowski on how to translate the retro looks we love so much into everyday looks you can do from home.

The collaboration, which comes in the form of two limited-edition boxes (the New York box and the California box), represents the two settings of the show: the “sleek professionalism of Madison Avenue” and the “effortlessly chic vibe of 1960s Hollywood.” Each box retails for $10 and will be available until April 24.

And Horochowski has actually used a few of the products found in the boxes on just about every character in the show — especially on everyone’s arches. “I use Anatasia Brow Gels on everyone, as well as the Liz Earle Eye Lotion,” she said.

There are also a few go-to products Horochowski uses on Betty, Peggy and Joan which aren’t in the box but are just as great, like Koh Gen Doh Aqua Foundation, Nars Velvet matte lip pencils, MAC cream blush in “Virgin Isle,” ByTerry concealer, Tom Ford lipstick in “True Coral” (her absolute favorite) and Kiehl’s Tinted Moisturizers for the men.

But before Horochowski gets the cast set-ready, she needs a little inspiration, which she draws from early beauty advertisements. “I mostly use makeup ads for inspiration and reference because I figure they show the color palettes that were being sold at that particular time,” she told PEOPLE.

Over seven seasons of the show, Horochowski said the character’s makeup looks haven’t drastically changed, but they’ve definitely evolved to fit the current beauty trends on the time. “[The ladies’] basic looks really haven’t changed much throughout the seasons,” she said. “[It’s] just modernizing lip colors and [including] newer products as they were made available.”

If the limited-edition box isn’t enough to fill the Mad Men-shaped void in your heart, Horochowski has a few tips and tricks to help you channel your inner ’60s woman — and it all starts with the brows. “Definitely focus on your eyebrows,” she said. “They need to be thicker and more defined [than your everyday look].”

Bring out your eyes with a little liner — and some falsies. “Use a liquid liner, or if you want something easier, use a gel liner,” she said. “Finish your eyes with fake eyelashes and [lots of] mascara.”

And complete the look with a bold lip! Swipe on a “colored matte lipstick in a pink, red or coral” for a fun pop of color for your pout. And voilà! You’re now ready to meet your very own Mad Man.
