We know we’re more invested than your average person in celebrity hair changes, but even a casual observer could tell you that 2014 was “the year of the bob,” with everyone from Beyoncé to Taylor Swift sporting the style. But just when we think we’ve reached peak bob fatigue, another take on the look wows us. Let’s check out three that got our attention this week.

On the left is Malin Akerman, who’s showing off the versatility of her shaved-sides undercut by side-parting it and wearing it as a choppy, asymmetrical chin-skimming bob. “Change is good,” she said at the time — and apparently, she still feels that way, since she’s not boring us with her locks looks yet.

In the center, Rose Byrne wears a freshened-up take on her signature shoulder-grazing cut: A traditional, true bob that’s shorter on one side than the other and blown out super-sleek. The last time her hair was this short she was rocking some majorly heavy bangs, so we wonder if that might be next on her tress agenda once her role in Broadway’s You Can’t Take It With You has wrapped up.
Finally, Top Five‘s Gabrielle Union, who likes to change up her hair regularly, but currently is sporting a long bob with auburn undertones. When paired with a red lip and a cutout black dress, it’s a super-sophisticated, super-sexy take on the trend.
