“It feels great,” Tina Fey tells reporters at the 2014 Elle Women in Hollywood Awards in Beverly Hills Monday night, where she received an award while wearing a Calvin Klein Collection LBD.

Plus, as Fey, 44, points out, it’s kinda neat to switch into Beyoncé mode for a day. “It kind of is for a while!” says the actress of having fun with her her sexy — and leggy — shoot (below). “Why not?”

Should any of us find ourselves in the same position, Fey has some modeling advice, and it’s fairly simple: “Just turn your brain off and pretend like it makes sense for you to be there,” she says.

And how did her two most important critics — daughters Alice, 9, and Penelope, 3 — react to their mom’s modeling stint? “They have not seen it,” says Fey, 44. “But I think the day I did the shoot, I came home and just was immediately asked, ‘Why do you have so much makeup on?’ They get very suspicious if I have makeup on.”

Well, no one ever said modeling was easy.

What do you think of Fey’s photoshoot? Which cover was your fave?
