Ah, Halloween weekend. Has it really already been a year since Heidi Klum turned heads as an octogenarian? And while some PEOPLE staffers are super pumped about candy, costumes and crazy-scary makeup, a few of us are taking a more laid-back approach to the celebration, at least as far as our faces are concerned, with bold lip and bright eye looks that are sure to still grab attention — and spare us a lengthy makeup removal.

STATEMENT LIP
Nothing says vamp like a violet lip. So if you’re inspired to spice up your makeup this weekend take a cue from these stars and pop on a purple pout. For a slightly vintage vibe, try Lily Collins’s glossy cabernet color (we like Lancôme’s Bordeaux Tempo), and pair it with a few “Old Hollywood” (translation: huge) waves.
But if you’ve got “vixen” running through your veins, try an oxblood hue. Jennifer Hudson and her makeup artist Yolonda Frederick have been all about deep colors lately, and went next-level sexy by combining her silky dress with M.A.C.’s blue-red blend, Sin.
Meanwhile, Chrissy Teigen and makeup artist Hung Vanngo’s “#darklipstick moment” came courtesy of CK One Color’s Loudmouth shade (which is discontinued). “I wanted to give Chrissy a bad girl look so I chose a darkish, berry-red lipstick,” says Vanngo. “The texture is creamy with a beautiful sheen, so it doesn’t appear harsh.”
And if you simply need to conjure up the Halloween spirit enough to sneak into a costume party? Then break out M.A.C.’s bright purple Heroine shade like Sarah Hyland and makeup artist Allan Avendano did. The #perfectpurple pout and a pair of fangs should pretty much do the trick.
STATEMENT EYE
Black eyeliner is a beauty staple found in almost every woman’s makeup bag, but lately, we’ve been seeing a cool, blue take on the classic lined look. And these celebs prove that you, too, can pull off a cooler color on your lids.
If you prefer to wear your liner on your lower lash line, then January Jones’s look is for you. With a teal-hued pencil (we like Make Up For Ever’s Aqua Eyes Liner in Turquoise), simply apply the liner on the waterline to create a bold under-eye statement.
For an icy take on the trend, like Kerry Washington’s, put your winged-out liner skills to the test by applying a pencil (we like Mally Beauty’s Evercolor Starlight Waterproof version in Ice Blue (or liquid — whatever you prefer!), with the help of this cat-eye liner tutorial by PEOPLE style and beauty editor Loni Venti. Just remember to lips and cheek makeup look to a minimal so the eyes remain the focus. And if you’re looking to really amp up your blue cat-eye, like Natalie Dormer’s, be sure to draw further out to over-exaggerate the wing!
And finally, we have Cara Delevingne rocking a super-bold blue lid, which is perfect for this weekend’s Halloween festivities, and can easily be replicated at home by applying a thick swipe of blue liquid liner (like Stila’s Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Cobalt). Sorry, awesomely bold brows not included.
