Looks like Zayn Malik has been keeping busy since his departure from beloved British boy band One Direction. (And we’re not just talking about those drama! solo recording sessions.) The former teen dream has added a new piercing to his collection: a small silver stud in his nose. (Yes, you read that correctly.)

The piercing in question, a little stud in his right nostril, was put on display in a photo shared by Malik’s friend and rumored record producer, Naughty Boy, on Twitter. (Naughty Boy loves to stir up Zayn drama, for the uninitiated.)
“got me on that go dumb s–t @zaynmalik,” the snap was captioned.

While it certainly appears that the former One Direction star has pierced his nose, he has yet to confirm (or deny) the nose bling. But we (and the rest of the Directioners, judging by the hysteria in the Twitter replies) are thinking it’s the real deal. He doesn’t strike us as the type to rock a magnetic stud from Claire’s, but hey, we don’t really know his life. Resident office One Direction superfan Amanda Steiner posits that Zayn has been kidnapped by Naughty Boy and is being held in a Little Mermaid/Ursula type hostage situation, but again, we can’t confirm or deny.

Update: It’s real! Now that we’ve finally gotten a better view of his new piercing (above), it appears there’s one more thing we absolutely need to discuss about Malik’s new look. His hair. It’s gone. WHERE DID IT GO? Directioners, how do you feel about this whole new look for the rumored-soon-to-be solo artist? It’s clear that he’s been going through a lot (like quitting his day job), so switching up his signature look (you know, buzzing off his beautiful jet-black hair and adding a silver stud to his nose) must all be a part of the plan to reinvent himself as a musician.
