What We’re Buying: Classic Carryalls, Trendy Jogger Pants and Multi-Purpose Makeup

Have you bought anything you loved lately? In the PEOPLE StyleWatch offices, the answer to that question is usually “Yes.” This week, we got an expert recommendation on a bag that will go with everything you own, plus, jumped on the jogger pant bandwagon and found some great travel cosmetics.

Amy E. Goodman, style expert and a lifestyle editor for zulily: When I’m not shuttling my kids to their activities, I’m attempting errands (read: procrastinating grocery shopping), traveling for work, meeting up with friends or un/packing for said work trip. And while I style my outfits depending on my mood du jour, there’s one thing in my fashion routine that has to remain stable — my bag. My everyday carryall has to rock pretty much every outfit. So consider a neutral hue like my Segolene Paris purse in egg shell, that matches most everything. Usually this satchel retails for $149, but is available at zulily for a fraction of the cost at $29.99! So you caught me: I heart my luxe bag even more for being the kind of buy that I don’t have to hide from my hubby. It’s versatile with top handles or an adjustable shoulder strap, a weight disperser for when my husband insists I carry all of his accessories too.

John Soper, Editorial Assistant: Because I like to dress up every day, it would probably shock my coworkers to know that I own a pair of athletic shorts — multiple actually. The second I get home from a long day at the office, I love to shed my chic ensemble and slip into my comfy clothes. However, recently I discovered the magic of jogger pants and my entire outlook on life has changed.

These faux-leather bottoms from Urban Outfitters are probably the third or fourth pair (I’ve lost count) of this style that I’ve bought. They are sleek enough to dress up with a blazer at the office, and then I can pair them with a tee after work when I want to just relax on the couch with my Seamless and Netflix accounts.

Whitney Little, Associate Producer: I recently experienced one of the greatest triumphs of my life: fitting nine days’ worth of stuff into a carry-on suitcase. My main stress resulted from trying to bring along all my tried and true beauty products in travel-sized containers. Then I found Antonym’s makeup line, which truly saved my vacation, thanks to their baked foundation and blush. The eco-friendly company’s products are affordable but feel high-end (my face looked great in all my vacation photos!), and the powders don’t take up space in my precious liquids bag (a huge plus when also bringing along hair products, sunscreen, moisturizers, etc). The best part? The marbled aspect means the stuff is multi-functional: I used the lighter shades in the foundation as a highlighter, and the deep pinks in the blush as eyeshadow. I was so happy with the products I still use them, even when I don’t have to fit them into a small suitcase.
