You’re Not Going to Believe Why Chrissy Teigen Says She Was Fired from Forever 21

Anyone who follows Chrissy Teigen on Twitter knows she’s very candid and rarely holds anything back. The supermodel stays true to that honest and open philosophy in a new interview with DuJour magazine, where she jokes about her constant “b*tchy resting face,” favorite outfit (“jean shorts, a slouchy shirt & chunky boots … or a towel”) and her least favorite John Legend song (“Green Light“).

Teigen, 28, also reveals a more personal story from her early modeling days — she was fired from Forever 21 over her weight.

Chrissy Teigen DuJour magazine quotes Bryan Bedder/Getty

“They booked me directly when I was much younger. I showed up on set and they asked me if they could take a photo,” she explains in this behind-the-scenes video from her DuJour shoot. “And they shoot that photo off to my agency, who then calls me as I’m sitting in the make-up chair, and they say, ‘You need to leave right now. They just said that you are fat and you need to get your measurements taken.’” (Forever 21 did not respond to requests for comment.)

The star has moved on to become one of the most praised Sports Illustrated models of the decade (nabbing this year’s cover), plus, she’s no stranger to taking a stance against body shaming. And while she’s very open about most things, there are a few topics she likes to keep to herself.

“I really don’t like talking about health, fitness and dieting,” she shared. “That kind of stuff is very private to me, because I feel like when I do end up sharing things like that, maybe it doesn’t work for everybody and everyone has their own opinions. I hold things like that pretty close.”
