Initially, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings called the fourth season of Arrested Development a “one-off” and that there would not be another. And while the season wasn’t exactly well reviewed it was well watched. As it turns out, Netflix does like to make money and is therefore officially “interested” in more original episodes about the Bluth family. Imagine Entertainment co-chairman Brian Grazer told Bloomberg Television: “We are in conversations with them to do another [season].”
Variety, however, tells a bit of a different story, with sources saying “that there are no active negotiations at present between Netflix and studio 20th Century Fox TV.” There is some good news, specifically that both sides “expect a renewal to come together eventually.”
The Bluth family is notoriously difficult to herd, which led to some green screen disasters in season four. Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett and Tony Hale are all currently signed on for other television shows (sorry Alia), so it could be a couple years before we can all huddle around our computer screens in the dead of night again for an early morning binge watch.
