Robin Williams will continue to be honored at the 2014 Emmy Awards.
Billy Crystal, the late actor’s longtime friend and former Father’s Day co-star, will pay tribute to him during the awards show on Monday following his heartbreaking death last week.
After much speculation over whether or not Williams would be dedicated a special memorial during the show–especially with the outpouring of response over his passing–the Emmy’s producer Don Mischer finally confirmed the late actor would, indeed, be honored.
So how did they choose Crystal to lead the tribute?
Mischer released a statement today saying, “We felt we needed to do something powerful and memorable. Billy seemed like the perfect choice. ”
No words.

This will be the first time Crystal speaks at length about Williams’ death. Several days following the tragic news, he simply took to Twitter to write, “No words.”
And while he has yet to release a statement, we’re sure Crystal’s tribute will be incredibly heartfelt. Mischer says that the production team along with Crystal are working to make it as special as possible.
“Plans for the In Memoriam segment are in discussion,” Mischer adds in his statement. “While we are all still coming to terms with this week’s tragic news, we are working to give Robin Williams the proper and meaningful remembrance he so well deserves.”
Robin Williams passed away on Aug. 11 after committing suicide.
