Chris Brown Sued Over Frank Ocean Recording Studio Brawl

Chris Brown is sinking deeper into legal hot water: he has now been sued in connection to an alleged altercation between his and Frank Ocean‘s entourages earlier this year.

The “Thinkin Bout You” singer’s cousin, Sha’keir Duarte, maintains he was attacked by a member of Brown’s crew during a confrontation between the singers in the parking lot of Los Angeles-area Westlake Recording Studios on January 27, The Associated Press reports.

Duarte is seeking unspecified damages from Brown in Los Angeles Superior Court, claiming he suffered a concussion as well as other collateral damage — like humiliation and mental anguish — as a result of the assault. Brown’s attorney Mark Geragos called the case frivolous, saying he will seek to have it dismissed and will countersue Duarte.

Ocean, for his part, never filed criminal or civil charges against Brown, taking to his Tumblr to announce he chose “peace” in the aftermath of the much-publicized fight.

This is just the latest in Brown’s long-running legal woes. Last month, Brown’s probation — stemming from his 2009 assault of on-and-off girlfriend Rihanna — was revoked as a result of hit-and-run charges from a May car crash, to which he pleaded not guilty. He is now scheduled to be in court on Aug. 15, when a date will be set for a hearing to determine whether or not Brown violated his probation when he left the scene of the accident

As these legal issues have stacked up, Brown suffered a non-epileptic seizure while working in a Los Angeles studio last week. The singer’s publicist, Nicole Perna, blamed the seizure on fatigue and extreme emotional stress, explaining that Brown was examined by a doctor but not hospitalized.
