Earlier this year, Diana Agron was notably absent on the Cory Monteith tribute episode of Glee. There was no explanation provided for her absence, even though Agron’s character, Quinn Fabray, was Monteith’s character’s girlfriend during the show’s first season.
After the episode aired, rumors circulated that the reason for Agron’s absence was a feud between the other actors on the show and series creator Ryan Murphy. Speaking with The Irish Independent, Agron claimed that the rumor isn’t true, but wouldn’t specify why she wasn’t in the episode in the first place.
“Bad news spreads faster than anything good,” Agron said. “And I think it’s just such a shame, especially involving someone that we love so much, that the good old internet has taken everything that they want to say about it and spread it like wildfire.”
Agron never says exactly why she wasn’t on the show, but she does insist that she appreciates the experience:
“With those people it was the perfect mix of everything I needed to prepare me for everything else. We cut our teeth on that show, and it’s always going to be so special because of that. … So I’ve nothing but love for that show and everybody involved in it and it was such a huge part of my life, so I think it’s equally hard when I’m not there every day anymore, I don’t see all of them every day anymore to have things like this fly around. It’s more heartbreaking than it would be if I was there with everybody. It makes me feel even farther away from our show.”
Though Agron doesn’t say what kept her from appearing on the tribute episode, previously Murphy has implied that Agron was busy working on another project when the episode was shot.
