Is Vogue‘s Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour throwing shade at Kim Kardashian and Kanye West?
After putting the couple on the cover of Vogue in April, Wintour is now making some interesting statements about her decision. Find out what Wintour had to say about the cover below!
Wintour was in New York at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday when she made comments that raised a few eyebrows. According to the Daily Mail, Wintour said, “I think if we just remain deeply tasteful and just put deeply tasteful people on the cover, it would be a rather boring magazine.” Is she implying that Kardashian and West aren’t “tasteful?”
The editor went on to talk about making her cover choices, “The first celebrity that I put on the cover of Vogue was Madonna, and that was considered completely controversial at the time, too. It’s such a long time ago probably no one remembers, but she was a very controversial figure. Now she’s part of the establishment.”
Though she might’ve thrown some shade at Kardashian and West, it seems as though she’s a fan of Kardashian’s supermodel sister, Kendall Jenner. Wintour talked about Jenner being named the new face of Estee Lauder, saying, “What a fantastic decision that was! They have a wonderful brand that’s very traditionally American, and they decided they want to shake it up and reach a different audience. Now and again one has to do things like that.” Jenner actually just landed a new spread in Vogue!
