Let’s all pause from thinking about George Clooney’s upcoming wedding and focus on his career for a second.
The Hollywood Foreign Press announced on Monday that its 2015 recipient of the Cecil B. DeMille award will be Mr. Clooney, who will officially receive the award at the Golden Globes ceremony in January.
Clooney, 53, has been nominated for a Golden Globe 13 times and won four times, including his most recent win in 2012 for Best Motion Picture – Drama for Argo.
The handsome one received his first nomination in 1995 for his portrayal of Dr. Doug Ross on ER. He would go on to receive to more consecutive nominations for the same category.
Clooney’s other Golden Globe wins came in 2000, 2005 and 2011 for acting roles in O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Syriana and The Descendants, respectively.
Recent recipients of the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille trophy, which is given each year to someone of “demonstrated achievement in film and television entertainment,” have included Woody Allen, Jodie Foster, Morgan Freeman and Robert De Niro.
The 72nd Golden Globe Awards will be handed out on Jan. 11, 2015.
