Just What is so Damning About VF’s Article on Gwynnie?

Just under six months ago, Vanity Fair approached Gwyneth Paltrow for a profile piece, who gave the magazine a resounding “no” because of recent “unflattering” articles on Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise.

After finding out that VF was going ahead without her cooperation, Paltrow sent out an email to famous friends requesting that they not speak to the magazine.

“If you are asked for quotes or comments, please decline,” the email read.  ”Also, I recommend you all never do this magazine again.”

Editor-in-Chief Graydon Carter spoke to the Times about the feature and the publicity surrounding it.

“We started a story on her. We have a very good writer and it’ll run,” he said.  ”We wouldn’t be doing our job if there wasn’t a little bit of tension between Vanity Fair and its subjects.  In any given week, I can expect to hear from a disgruntled subject in Hollywood, Washington, or on Wall Street. That’s the nature of the beast.”

What will be revealed?  Marital issues? A secret drinking habit that leads to marathon sessions with self-esteem destroyer Tracy Anderson?

Ooh, let there be scoop on her reported break-up with Madonna, and what she really thinks of pasta and wine.
