With Bono still recovering from his cycling accident that left him with some serious injuries last month, the World AIDS Day concert held last night in Times Square got a huge surprise performer in Bono’s stead: Kanye West.
Yeezus is a groundbreaking artist and an amazing live performer, and he didn’t hold back on the dramatics last night either – singing in the rain, falling to the floor, and a little sound mishap (he’s not married to Kim Kardashian for nothing!).
Also preforming last night were Jennifer Lawrence‘s (oh, and Gwyneth Paltrow‘s) crooning/cutie ex, Chris Martin of Coldplay, a Bono-less U2, Carrie Underwood, and Bruce Springsteen.
Watch the whole video above for the oh so very Kanye West experience of “Power”, “Jesus Walks”, “Black Skinhead”, “Stronger”, and “Touch the Sky” (starting at 27:00).
World AIDS Day is December 1st; go to red.org/Thankyou to donate (plus right now the Bank of America will match your donation) and support RED’s efforts to fight AIDS.
